Aroids—including philodendrons, monsteras, and pothos—are native to tropical rainforests where their roots grow in loose, organic matter on the forest floor or even climb trees as epiphytes. Their roots crave oxygen and are prone to rot if kept in dense, soggy soil. Our Aroid Groove Mix is designed to mimic these natural conditions: chunky orchid bark and perlite create chunky air pockets for root aeration, coco coir and sphagnum moss hold just enough moisture without waterlogging, and compost provides gentle nutrition.
